All states have drunk driving or DUI laws that provide for greater punishment under enhanced sentencing. A drunk driving sentence enhancement can be a legal or factual circumstance that provides for stiffer punishment because of a greater threat to public safety by the driver. These sentence enhancements can include higher fines, longer license suspension and, in a growing number of states, mandatory jail time. DUI Enhancement Factors Although drunk driving laws vary from state to state, here are some of the factors that can trigger DUI sentence enhancements: Prior DUI Conviction: In every state in the U.S. penalties are greater for any driver with a previous drunk driving offense. Some states enhance the sentence for a DUI within the past five years, some 10 years and some states for any previous conviction no matter how long ago it was. High-Level Blood-Alcohol Concentration: More states are beginning to adopt laws that increase penalties for drivers who have high blood-alcohol levels at the time of their arrests. Some states place that level at 0.15 and some states have even greater enhancements for a BAC above 0.20. Refusal to Take  a Breath Test: In many states, if you refuse to take a breath test  you can be subjected to more penalties that you would have if you submitted to the testing. In some states, refusal means immediate revocation of your license and in other states, it means mandatory jail time. You can no longer be given an enhanced sentence for refusing to take a blood or urine test unless the police first obtain a warrant, the Supreme Court ruled in June 2016. Child Endangerment: If you were caught driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle, your sentence will be enhanced in many states, even if its your own child. In some states, the enhancement applies for children under age 18 and even greater enhancement for those under 14. Property Damage: If you had a wreck while driving under the influence, your penalties will be greater in most states; even greater if you do not have required auto insurance. Bodily Injury: If you injured someone in your wreck while intoxicated your sentence will be enhanced even more. Other Factors: Other circumstances that can increase your penalties and fines for a DUI conviction include: No valid drivers licenseOn probation for another crimeHaving an open container of alcoholHaving multiple previous convictionsHaving an ignition interlock device on the vehicle

The jury must deliberate until a unanimous decision is reached. This is an example of Shared Norms; this group is trying to reach a specific goal. We continue to explore further about the different personality in the group in order, to examine their commitments, and how they related, in which complementary skills, justification, personal agendas being utilized before achieving the group goal. In the organization behavior perspective, individual personality, mood, and emotions are among the barriers and constraints in making decisions. The case appeared to open and shut case. However, there was one, Juror No. 8 who cast doubt on the case. This juror holdout and mad e every attempt to prevent a miscarriage of justice by forcing his colleagues to reconsider the evidence. ANALYSIS As the deliberations unfold, one can see the different personalities of the jurors. By recognizing the different personality of the group, it was easier to handle any dynamic that arose within the group. Juror 3 was the aggressor, he was loud, stubborn and emotional. He is also prejudiced against the defendant because he reminds him of his son, from whom he is estranged. Juror 10 the joker he was always disrupting the group. Juror 12 the Self -Confessor, he kept telling everyone irrelevant stories about his work and had no real inputs for the group. Juror 7 the Withdrawer kept referring to his baseball game and was distracted throughout the group interaction. Juror 10 was prejudice against the defendant because he was from the slums, and believed everyone from the slums are criminals, he had a lot of outbursts and tried to convince Juror 8 to vote guilty. Juror 1 was appointed the foreman of the group but did not have much interaction with the group as a leader, he seems to listen mo re to the other jurors than providing his comments or opinions, his behavior causes a shift in leadership. Juror 8 emerged as a leader of the group. He exhibited task-oriented leadership style. As our textbook pointed out a task leader is a person who keeps the group focused on the primary goal or task by setting agendas. One of the most important qualities of leadership is the ability to stay calm, focused and able to interact. Juror 8 possess all those qualities. He did not attempt to dominate the group but rather allowing the jury members to rely on each other for direction. He asked a lot of questions which enable the other jurors to analyze the evidence in a more concrete manner. He also asked jurors to put aside their biases. He stated Its not so easy for me to raise my hand and send a boy off to die without talking about it first. He believes everyone deserves justice and a fair trial. He suggested new ways to solve the problem, he asked the jury to deliberate for at least an hour, so he could present the evidence, an identical knife that he purchased in a pawn shop two blocks from where the defendant lived, shattering the claim that the knife was so unique and identifiable, he also disputed the testimony of an old man who could not have been at his door in time to see the accused fleeing. He presented an in-depth analysis of the facts of the case. The inconsistencies that he pointed out slowly convince the other jurors to vote not guilty. CONCLUSION We see the power of task-oriented leadership, the cycle of the changing role of leadership, and great effort it takes to change a random collection of individuals into a winning team. Group Cohesion stands to explain the degree to which each of the members of the group desire to remain in the group. Juror 8 changes the entire story of the young boy when he convinces his other eleven jurors that the two key witnesses for the case were mistaken and that they could not be really considered. He also showed empathy by asking other jurors to put themselves in the boys shoes. He talks about what it must have been like for the teenager, constantly pushed around by his father, and living in rough and slum-like conditions. He wasnt using these as excuses, but rather because it provided context for much of the evidence that was being used against the accused. His leadership trait was extremely effective. MacBeth - Tragic Hero Essays (450 words) - Characters In Macbeth

MacBeth - Tragic Hero MacBeth - Tragic Hero The character of Macbeth is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. There are many factors which contribute to the degeneration of Macbeth of which three will be discussed. The three points which contribute greatly to Macbeth's degeneration are the prophecy which was told to him by the witches, how Lady Macbeth influenced and manipulated Macbeth's judgment, and finally Macbeth's long time ambition which drove his desire to be king. Macbeth's growing character degenerates from a noble man to violent individual. The prophecies which were told by the witches were one of the factors which contributed to the degeneration of his character. If it had not been for the witches telling him that he was to be Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis, and King of Scotland, Macbeth would still be his ordinary self. As a result of the prophecies, this aroused Macbeth's curiosity of how he could be King of Scotland. As the play progresses, Macbeth slowly relies on the witches prophecies. Shakespeare uses the witches as a remedy for Macbeth's curiosity which corrupts his character. The influence of Macbeth's wife, Lady Macbeth also contributed to his degeneration of character. Lady Macbeth's character in the beginning reveals that she is a lovable person. When Lady Macbeth was ready to kill King Duncan herself, it showed that Lady Macbeth could not murder King Duncan because he reminded her of her father. This proves that Lady Macbeth has a heart deep inside her. Lady Macbeth plays an important role in this play because she provided a scheme which caused Macbeth to assassinate King Duncan. After Macbeth had killed King Duncan, he later regrets on his wrong doing. At the point of this play the audience can note the change in Macbeth's character. Macbeth's first murder was a trying experience for him, however after the first murder, killing seemed to be the only solution to maintain his reign of the people of Scotland. Therefore, it was Lady Macbeth who introduced the concept of murder to Macbeth. Macbeth's ambition also influenced his declining character. However, Macbeth's ambition had not been strong enough to carry the motive to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth's influence also comes in to play because if not for Lady Macbeth, his ambition would not have been intensified enough to drive him to obtain and maintain his title of King of Scotland no matter what it took, even if it meant murdering. Macbeth's ambition influenced the cause of his new character. This new character of Macbeth contained greed, violence, and power hunger. Macbeth shows this when he kills King Duncan. In conclusion, the prophecies given to him by the witches, Lady Macbeth's influence and plan, and his intensified ambition, all contributed greatly to his degeneration of character which resulted to his downfall...death. Therefore Macbeth character displays strong signs of a tragic hero, making him the ideal classic example.
